Registration Opens for ISOWC 2021

Just over a month away from getting underway for the ISOWC 2021, entries have opened on the ISOWC website. Just 40 spots on the roster are up for grabs and with interest from the iRacing IndyCar community as well as some of the top teams in road racing on the iRacing.com service, fireworks are expected come May 8th at the virtual Watkins Glen International.

After a two-week registration period, the 40-driver roster will be announced by the ISOWC Admins. The Admins will take into consideration previous World Championship experience in open-wheel cars as well as iRacing IndyCar experience in official and private events. Driver conduct will also be taken into account in the effort to ensure a professional atmopshere for drivers and teams in the virtual paddock.

With 4 road courses and just 2 ovals on the schedule, eyes are focused on the entry lists to see which road couse aces take up the challenge that the Dallara IR-18 presents. With no power steering and an almost 1-1 power to weight ratio (700 hp to 735kg), the IR-18 behaves unlike any other open-wheel car to be found on the iRacing Service. With front and rear ARB adjustments on road courses and the additional weight-jacker on ovals, drivers can constantly fine-tune their cars to rise to the top beyond the work done in the build up to the race.

On the line is one of the largest prize pools in virtual American Open-Wheel racing - $7,000 across just 6 races. The ISOWC 2021 Champion will take home $1,500 of the $4,350 championship pool with drivers as low as 30th still recieving a payout. In addition to the championship pool, each of the first five races will pay out $355 to the top 10 finishers, awarding $100 to the race winner for a total of $1,775 in 5 races. An additional prize pool of $875 will be on offer in the ISOWC 500 with the race winner taking home $250 meaning a perfect season would award the champion $2,250.

ISOWC 2021 gets underway on May 8th, 2021 at Watkins Glen with the final round of the 6 race championship taking place on July 31st, 2021 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
